FISH THE FLORIDA KEYS BACKCOUNTRY

Emerald Water Charters

what to expect

If you’re looking for a professional, experienced backcountry fishing guide with a warm and laid-back attitude, then Emerald Water Charters is the way to go.  Captain Andy Downs specializes in small groups of all skill levels and ages.  He can take out the serious angler to target a bucket list species or load the kids up and get you that photo of them holding their first catch.

We fish in the pristine tranquil emerald waters of the Everglades National Park, as well as the Gulf of Mexico and Islamorada’s near shore waters.  Our Boat is a 24’ Lake & Bay bay boat powered by a 350HP Mercury Verado outboard engine to get you to our fishing spots comfortably, fast and safely. We use top of the line equipment and tackle, as well as live bait and artificial baits and lures.  We also fly fish. All top of the line gear and bait is included in the cost of your trip

Islamorada is the sport fishing capital of the world for a reason.  With our temperate climate, and the healthy year-round inshore and backcountry fishery we can get you out on the water any time of the year.

Captain Andy works quite often with repeat clients, many folks deciding to make annual or biannual trips to the keys to get back out on the water with him. He books up quick! He’s especially great with families and is known for being a not-so-salty local guide with patience, skill, deep knowledge of the area waters, and a good attitude.

On the day of your trip, all you need to bring is yourself, some kind of sun protection, polarized sunglasses (if you can get your hands on a pair) and any snacks to get you through the day.   Waters and a large cold cooler are provided.  You’re welcome to bring some beers for yourself if you’d like a cold one.

We’ve got all the safety gear, including life jackets, flairs, a fire extinguisher, a first-aid kit etc.

Come on out and let Captain Andy guide you through our beautiful backyard and help you capture your very own National Geographic moment!
